When the user starts Hubbub for the first time, it prompts them to log in, using their email address and their password, as shown in Figure P30. While the system is making the connection to the server and looking up the user, the "wait screen" appears, also shown in Figure P30. The small icon switches between two images (making it look like the circle is spinning) to give feedback that something is happening. [How can we know if something isn't happening? Can we make the icon stop spinning?] If the user taps "Cancel," they are returned to the Welcome screen. (They might do this if the realize they've typed in the wrong information and don't want to wait for a failure message.) [Can we interrupt the process like this?] If a user fails to provide the correct email and password combination for three attempts, then the password hint appears along with the name and password text fields. If they still provide the incorrect password for three more tries, the system declines to let them in, but provides a link to request a new password. [Need to figure this out...]
When a user logs in for the first time, they are shown an alert screen that explains that they should choose a Sound ID to represent them to their friends, shown in figure P31. Once they tap "OK," they are taken to the Select SID screen, explained on the Sound ID page. After the user chooses a SID, they never see this explanation screen again, even when logging on the first time from another device (since they need only one SID across all devices). If on the Select SID screen the user chooses "Cancel" they are given the default SID, which is the first Basic sound that is shown the first time the screen appears.
After the initial login, the only time a user logs into Hubbub is if they logged out, most likely to switch to another user or just to become unavailable to others. To log out, the user brings up the Hubbub menu, shown in Figure P32, and selects "Sign off." The Login screen appears, Figure P30, and the user can log on as someone else, or of course switch to another application.
