By Ellen Isaacs This page last updated: January 27, 2000 Users register for Hubbub from a registration web page, at which they provide their first and last name and their email address. They also choose a Hubbub name by which they want to be known to others, along with a password and a password hint. Users can choose whatever Hubbub name they want - it is not required to be unique among all Hubbub users. The system can identify them by the combination of their email address (which is already unique) and their password. However, names must be no longer than 10 characters, which is a requirement based on the limited screen size of the Palm. [Need to fill in the path the user the user takes after filling in the registration, going to a download page with instructions on what to do. Also needs to cover non-valid input, mainly a non-unique email address.] Once a user has registered, they download the software to their PC and install it. From there, they install it onto their Palm by the standard Hot Sync procedure for installing Palm apps. [Need to understand more about how this works.] Once installed (and the user has logged on), Hubbub runs all the time without the user having to bring it up. On the desktop, it starts up whenever they start their computer without their having to log in each time. [Probably should make that an option or something?] On the Palm, it's simply running all the time as long as the modem is connected to the network.
