Users edit a bub from the Edit Bub window. They bring up this window by selecting the bub they want to edit, and then either selecting "Edit Bub" from the Edit menu, shown in Figure D26, or by right clicking on the name and choosing "Edit Bub" from the popup menu, as shown on the TIMs page in Figure D8b. The Edit Bub window, shown in Figure D26, is similar to the preferences window they used when adding the bub, but it also gives some other identity information and the ability to play that Bub's Sound ID. (This screen combines some of the information from the Palm's Bub screen and Edit Bub screen, since there is no "Bub window" in this model - the user just selects the name rather than bringing up a Bub screen). In the Edit Bub window, the user can change the group by selecting another group from the menu, they can change any of the preferences, and they can hear that bub's sound ID by clicking the Sound ID button. When they click OK, the changes take effect. If they click Cancel, the window disappears and no changes take effect.
To remove a bub, the user selects the bub from the main Hubbub window and chooses "Delete bub" either from the Edit menu or from the popup menu, which they bring up by right-clicking on the bub name. This brings up a popup asking them to confirm that they want to remove the bub. It says "Do you want to remove {bub name}? Doing so will also remove you from their Hubbub." The choices are "Delete" or "Cancel." Cancel makes the window disappear with no changes taking effect. Delete removes the person from their bub list and sends a message to that bub saying, "{Bubname} no longer wishes to be bubs. They have been removed from your Bub list and you are no longer in theirs." The only button on this window is labeled "Bummer," which makes the window go away.
Editing Self InformationUsers may change their own information, including their name, email address, their SID, and the name of the device they're on. To do so, they choose the "Edit my info..." item from the Edit menu, which brings up the window in Figure D28. (They may also get to this window from the "Edit my Sound ID" menu item in the Sounds menu.)
This window appears showing the current information for this users. To change their real name, email address, or Hubbub name, the user edits the text and clicks the Save button and the window goes away. Those changes are propogated as quickly as possible. If the user changed their Hubbub name, the new name should be reflected immediately in the local client. [Maybe if they change their email address, we should email the old one and tell them about the new email address?] To change the SID, the user can click on the SID button to hear their current SID. If they wants to change it, they click on the Edit button, which brings up the browser of SIDs, shown in the SIDs section. Once they select a new SID in that chooser, the new label appears in the Edit My Info window. To save the new SID, the user clicks the Save button and the window goes away. Again, the new SID takes effect immediately. To change a password, the user clicks the Password button, which brings up the window shown in Figure D29. The user types their current password and then the new password twice and clicks Save. If the old password is correct and the new passwords match up, the password is changed. If the new passwords are not the same, the same window reappears with a message above it saying "Please type the same new password." If the old password is incorrect, the window reappears with a message above it saying "Old password incorrect. Please try again." If they type an incorrect old password 5 times, a window appears giving instructions on what to do if they forgot their password (TBD).
To change the label of the current device, the user goes through the same process they did when they first selected the device location. They can either select from the pulldown menu, which will be seeded with the following choices: If the user had previously created a new item, it appears in this menu as well.If none of those choices are appropriate, the user can choose another by choosing the New item. Doing so brings up the window in Figure D30.
The user types a label for the PC and for the Palm. The fields are set up so that they cannot type a label longer than 4 characters. (The field stops accepting characters and beeps each time they try to type a character beyond the limit.) Once they add a new device label, they click Add, the window goes away and the Device field in the Edit My Info window is set to the new label. The user accepts the change by clicking Save in that window. Once they do so, the changes take effect immediately. |
